Tom Sawyer influenced Huck because he made him more courageous. He is trying to be as good as his friend Tom because he is brave and doesn’t back down on an adventure. He said to himself, tom sawyer wouldn’t back out now, and so I won’t either; I am going to see what’s going on here. (Chapter 12, page 51, paragraph,3 )
The Widow Douglas has influenced Huck in good ways. She was making him a better person, even though he doesn’t always listen to her. He says “pap always said it warnt no harm to barrow things, if you was meaning to pay them back, but the widow said it warnt anything but a soft name for stealing, and no decent boy would do it.” (Chapter 12, page 49, paragraph 3)
Pap influenced Huck in a bad way. He was never there for Huck but Huck did listen to some of the stuff that his pap said .He still might look up to his pap a little and the things he said. Huck said “Pap always said that it warnt no harm to barrow, things if your meaning to pay them back. (Chapter12, page 49, paragraph 3) Huck doesn’t want to be like his pap at all because he drinks all the time and is a jerk.
Jim influenced Huck because He is his friend and he looks up to him. They have been on the island together, and helping each other out. He says that it seems that both the widow and pap was kind of right. He said we will not barrow three things from them and wouldn’t be no harm to barrow the rest.(chapter 12, page 49, paragraph 3.

Reader Response 1: Huck Finn (1 - 6)
Relationship to Parents
"looky here- mind how you talk to me; im standing about all i can stand, now- so dont gimme no sass. ive been in town two days, and i haint heard nothing but bout you bein' rich. i heard about it away down the river, too. thats why i come. you get me that money tomorrow- i want it. "
(chapter 5, pg. 15 last paragraph.)
Basicly Pap is saying to Huck watch how he seaks to him and dont give him any attitude. all he has heard is how rich Huck is now. and he wants huck to give him the money he found.
I feel that it wasnt right for Pap to do that. he is a bad father that gets drunk all the time and all he comes to see his son for is to give him the money he found. He hasnt been around for a long time and he now comes back. This can probably relate to my family because if someone in my family got rich and fond alot of money, there would be some people in my family that will try to get some of it and be nicer.
Mark Twain probably had a good relationship with his family. He made Pap look like a jerk, rasist, and always got drunk, all in all a bad person. He probably did this to show how people back then acted and to prove a point. Marks father died before becoming a journalist.
Paragraph 3 (Literary Analysis): Type 3-8 sentences about what Mark Twain thinks about the quote and its theme. Relate it to Twain's life in some way.
